Hello, welcome to my art space.
My name is Lisa Rosalina, I am a digital artist and illustrator focused on food and beverage. I draw with adobe illustrator and Procreate. I also draw manually with a marker and colored pencil. sometimes I use watercolor too. But I love Marker a lot compare to the other media. My drawing style is a cartoon, I enjoy drawing cute characters, especially food characters.
Let me tell you a little about my art journey. I started to love art when I was a kid, but I live in a small village where art is neither common nor special. Art skill was ignored. The drawing was only considered a time-wasting and useless hobby. Studying art means being ready to accept Fate with a bleak future. When I was 13 years old I entered junior high school. There, I met an art teacher, Her name was Mrs. Erma. A little fierce but I really admire her artistic skill. there's a lot about art that I'm forced to do on impulse, but I actually really like it. From Mrs. Erma, I learned the Pointillism drawing technique. One day I attended an art exhibition at school and there I got a lot of appreciation for my pointillist drawings. When I was in high school, I entered a school with a very good academic reputation, but who would have thought that I was very frustrated living my days there? The senior high school was said to be full of stories of love and friendship but not for me. I'm trying so hard to survive. At school, I found many of my friends who are great at art. Some of them are extraordinary in their realistic work. Good coloring technique and ability to draw with any media. I try to learn but I don't like it. Only the marker makes me very comfortable and I feel like I can draw anything with my style.
During school holidays I attended private drawing lessons. But one important thing I got from the lesson, is "An artist must have a characteristic to be easily recognized and his work is not easy to imitate". I spent my 3 years of high school doing pointillism painting. Not only as a hobby but as stress therapy. Every boring lesson I secretly draw in class. This pointillist led me to a mural, and my work was also selected for an auction. Even though I have a pretty bad academic reputation, I managed to create an image as a pointillist artist with a cartoon style and bright colors.
In contrast to high school, in college, I focused on studying business and leaving pointillism behind. One of the things that stopped me was that my family thought my pointillist painting was weird and childlike. no one considers this pointillist painting as a unique artwork, but just a fad picture that can be done by kindergarten children. I felt tired and really stopped. Not completely leaving the arts, I started scrapbooking in college until graduation. From the scrapbook, I understand digital art, but I don't do digital drawing myself but paid another digital designer. I also didn't intend to learn digital drawing because neither manual nor digital artists will be supported by my family.
After graduation, I worked in the Company. From multinational companies to very small start-up companies, I tried but still felt uncomfortable, I felt something was missing. Like a puzzle where the big piece was missing. That's how I felt for years. My heart wanted to do art but I denied it.
One day I got married. My husband started his career as a graphic designer after marrying me. One year of marriage after my business failed, my husband encouraged me to start digital drawing. Sometimes he saw me draw manually and said I was good at it. He told me how to use adobe illustrator. I know Ai before, but I didn't really use it to draw digitally. I started my digital drawing as a freelancer. the longer I am excited and enjoy working. Up to this point where I became a full-time artist and content creator. My husband is the only one who supports me as a digital artist. And then in my journey, I met lots of artist friends.
Now, I really enjoy my life.
I enjoy and respect every second of my time. Every day I wake up I start thinking about art and I am glad to find my long-lost and buried passion. I really thank my husband, who always supports me in doing what I like. For those who want to start an art career but have a bunch of thoughts to start, just start now. Do what you really love to do. It's never too late to start. If no one around you supports you, find friends who have the same passion.
Jia You!!
